Blue Note President Don Was was inspired to create this collection by the extraordinary audiophile vinyl reissues that Joe Harley has been putting out for years on the label he co-founded, Music Matters. Saxophonist Charles Lloyd awarded him the honorary title of “Tone Poet” for his extraordinary feel for the sound aesthetics of the LP format, a title Harley proudly bears today. The LPs in the series are produced with great attention to detail - from the sound quality and mastering to the high-quality pressing on 180-gram vinyl, the design of the heavy, laminated gatefold sleeves and the print quality.
