"Barbed Wire Sandwich", the only album by Black Cat Bones, is a cult classic of British heavy blues, now mastered at Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo analogue tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl. Includes sleeve notes by Richard Morton Jack, an authority on '60s and '70s rock music. Originally released in 1970 as part of Decca's short-lived Nova series, the album has since become a highly sought-after collector's item. With its powerful, guitar-driven blend of electric blues, hard rock and psychedelic influences, it captures the transition from the British blues boom to the heavy rock of the early 1970s. Paul Kossoff and Simon Kirke played with Black Cat Bones before forming Free; guitarist Rod Price later joined Foghat, while Black Cat Bones themselves eventually evolved into cult favourites Leaf Hound.
