„James Last Rocks The Hits“ prangt auf dem Cover dieser ungewöhnlichen Compilation von Deutschlands internationaler Musikikone. James Last und Rockmusik - wie passt das zusammen? Sehr gut sogar! In den 1960er und 1970er Jahren entdeckte der „Partykönig“ die internationale Rockszene für sich und nahm Hits von Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Lennon, Neil Diamond, Santana, The Sweet, Van Morrison, The Eagles, Bob Marley, The Animals und vielen anderen auf. Nicht nur seine Fans waren begeistert, auch Musikkritiker und teilweise sogar die Originalkünstler waren sich einig: seine Versionen waren so gut wie die Titel aus den internationalen Charts.
