Louis Armstrong remains one of the most influential and popular musicians of the 20th century. “Satchmo” still stands for jazz with swing and plenty of soul. His music shaped generations of instrumentalists and singers, while his appeal reached far beyond jazz, making him a global superstar. With “One Night in Highland Park”, a previously unreleased concert by the music legend is finally being released nearly 70 years after it was recorded. Captured on March 19, 1957, in front of 1,200 fans at a high school near Chicago, the recording finds Armstrong at the height of his career, performing with the All Stars line-up he himself considered his best. The set features classics including “Blueberry Hill”, “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “Tiger Rag”, alongside his then-smash hit “Mack the Knife”. An extraordinary discovery and a remarkable piece of music history.
