Even more than my earlier releases, “Low End Love Songs” is a diary in the form of songs. I knew I just had to wait for the songs to be ready to be picked, like ripe fruit from a tree. Each song encapsulates a specific moment in my life, with music serving as a means to process complex and sometimes contradictory emotions. On this album, I move away from loop-based song structures and toward more intricate and lush compositions. Latin American influences permeate the music, adding new layers of rhythm and texture to my soul music roots. - Pale Jay //
Admittedly, I'm not a good salesperson when it comes to promoting our small label. I do my best not to exaggerate or build something up too intensely when someone hasn't heard a new artist yet. I prefer to simply present the music and let the listener decide what they think of it. However, we live in an age where the “story” crafted by publicists, labels, and managers is often the driving force behind an artist's rise to prominence. And to me, that has always felt rather artificial, even when the narrative is genuine. But every now and then, there's a project that develops a life of its own. And I can say without a doubt that the growth of Pale Jay's reach since we started working with him has little to do with conjured narratives or clever marketing, and more to do with how the music makes listeners feel. It's that simple. In fact, Jay is so enigmatic and narrative-free that the sheer absence of a story has become the story. Who is he? Where does he come from? What's next? Some questions, in my opinion, are better left unanswered. That includes the question, “Why does this music evoke so many feelings in me?” The best thing to do is just sit back, switch off, and let Pale Jay's Low End Love Songs envelop you." - Terry Cole
