In 2024, the Washington, D.C.-based jazz-punk trio The Messthetics, comprised of members of the punk band Fugazi, and New York-based jazz tenor saxophonist James Brandon Lewis joined forces for their Impulse! debut album. Fans and media alike were enthusiastic, praising their music as, among other things, "the intersection of free improvisation and the spirit of punk-infused rock n’ roll" (Glide Magazine).

Following an acclaimed European tour of over 150 concerts, the musicians have now recorded their follow-up album, "Deface The Currency," which surpasses its predecessor in terms of energy, sound, and songwriting. The band has evolved into an impressive unit, captivating listeners with complex unison lines, edgy melodies, and powerful improvisations.
