Release date: 20 November 2026

In 2026, the legendary Verve label celebrates its 70th anniversary. A very special jazz party comes in the form of the grooving and swinging album project "Always Hip: Verve at 70": seven decades of one of jazz's most storied labels are reimagined by an extraordinary multigenerational cast. Produced by Steve Jordan, the album brings together greats including Buster Williams, Billy Hart, Ron Carter, Monty Alexander, Rufus Reid, and Lenny White, reinterpreting songs originally recorded for Verve by legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, Willie Bobo, and Cal Tjader. Recorded at the famous Van Gelder Studio, "Always Hip: Verve at 70" is both tribute and continuation: a celebration of the artists, songs, and spirit that shaped Verve, and proof that its musical legacy remains as vibrant as ever.
