When the global bossa nova trend was at its peak in 1962, none other than Quincy Jones came up with the idea of combining the “quiet music” of Brazil with the groove of a big band. With huge success! The album “Big Band Bossa Nova” has long since become a classic, the track “Soul Bossa Nova” from it, sampled countless times and often heard in films and advertising, even became the anthem of the 1998 Soccer World Cup. Jones' catchy and swinging interpretation of Latin classics such as “Desafinado” and “Manha de Carnaval” is garnished with solo delicacies by top musicians such as Clark Terry (trumpet), Roland Kirk (flute), Phil Woods & Paul Gonsalves (saxophone) and Jim Hall (guitar).
