“A Love for Strangers” is a complete reinvention for Nick Murphy. His first album as Chet Faker in four years expands his established sound in exciting new directions. With moonlit saxophones reminiscent of legendary acts such as Prefab Sprout and The Blue Nile, as well as the lush, breakbeat-heavy pop of David Gray's classic “White Ladder.” In these twelve songs, Murphy reflects on heartbreak and uncertainty on a grand scale—asking questions about how we treat each other, examining how we fail in doing so, and conveying the necessary sense of hope when it comes to repairing our relationships with the world around us.
