With Killers in 1981, Iron Maiden solidified their position in the emerging New Wave of British Heavy Metal and honed their raw, street-driven sound. The second album featuring singer Paul Di’Anno feels more direct and aggressive than the debut, while bassist Steve Harris’s driving compositions already hint at the band’s later stylistic direction. The vinyl edition of *Killers* conveys this early phase of the band with palpable immediacy and simultaneously marks the transition to a new era in the Iron Maiden universe.
