My 21st Century Blues marks a pivotal moment in the career of this British artist, who here establishes herself as a fully independent artist for the first time and reflects on her experiences in the music industry. The album moves between soul, R&B, and contemporary pop, combining clear, often unflinching lyrics with multi-layered arrangements. With its thematic depth and stylistic openness, this work exemplifies a new generation of singer-songwriter albums in the 21st century. On vinyl, *My 21st Century Blues* unfolds a dense, intimate sonic aesthetic that is carried in particular by RAYE’s voice.
