Steven Osborne offers a reflective, mature Schubert on his new album, including the beloved ‘Moments musicaux’ D780. In his 25+ years recording for Hyperion, Scottish pianist Steven Osborne’s 35 releases have won 2 Gramophone Awards, 3 Preise der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and a clutch of Recordings of the Year from national and international press. The Piano Sonata in A major, D959, is the mightiest of the piano works from the final year of Schubert’s short yet prodigious life. ‘Osborne immediately presents himself as a Schubertian of the utmost seriousness and integrity … finely gauged and beautifully regulated playing’ (Gramophone). ‘Invigorating Schubert by any standards’ (The Sunday Times).
