With Toxicity, System Of A Down reached a turning point in 2001 where alternative metal, political commentary, and avant-garde song structures formed an unusually tight bond. The album is set against the backdrop of a tense period following the turn of the millennium and reflects societal fractures through precise, often fragmented storytelling. Amid aggressive riffs and melodic passages, a distinctive sound unfolds, firmly establishing the band within the canon of seminal metal releases. On vinyl, the dynamic production gains additional depth and underscores the contrasts that keep Toxicity relevant to this day.
