Release date: April 5, 2024

With Ohio Players, The Black Keys open up their garage-blues-rock sound to soul, funk, and hip-hop-inspired production ideas, without completely abandoning the raw core of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. The Akron-based band’s twelfth album, released in 2024, is marked by collaborations with Beck, Noel Gallagher, and Dan the Automator, giving it the feel of a deliberate expansion of their familiar vinyl sound. Historically, Ohio Players marks less of a break than a late-career assessment: an album that bridges their blues-rock roots, pop craftsmanship, and Ohio’s cultural heritage.
